SEQUENCE Function

The SEQUENCE function is one of the math and trigonometry functions. It is used to generate an array of sequential numbers.

Please note that this is an array formula. To learn more, please read the Insert array formulas article.

The SEQUENCE function syntax is:

SEQUENCE(rows,[columns],[start],[step])

where

rows is used to set the number of rows to return.

columns is used to set the number of columns to return.

start is used to set the first number in the sequence.

step is used to control the increment for each subsequent value in the array.

To apply the SEQUENCE function,

  1. select the cell where you wish to display the result,
  2. click the Insert function
    icon situated at the top toolbar,
    or right-click within a selected cell and select the Insert Function option from the menu,
    or click the
    icon situated at the formula bar,
  3. select the Math and trigonometry function group from the list,
  4. click the SEQUENCE function,
  5. enter the required arguments separating them by comma,
  6. press the Enter button.

The result will be displayed in the selected cell.
