Editing PDFs
Editing text
You can edit PDFs stored locally on your device. To open a PDF for editing, touch and hold the file in the file list and select the Edit option from the menu that appears.
Editing online PDFs is not yet supported. Only locally stored files can be edited.
Tap the area you want to edit to place the cursor and start typing. The following text formatting options are available via the text formatting toolbar at the bottom of the screen or through the text settings panel.
To open the text settings panel:
- tap the
icon at the top toolbar, or - tap the Edit option in the pop-up menu.
- Set font type, size, and color — change the font name and size, apply font color and highlight color using the theme, standard, or custom color palettes.
- Apply font decoration styles — apply bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, double strikethrough, superscript, subscript, small caps, all caps, and adjust letter spacing.
- Add hyperlinks — insert clickable links to external URLs, with optional display text and screen tip.
- Align your text in a paragraph — set horizontal alignment (left, center, right, justify) and vertical alignment (top, middle, bottom) for text in text boxes and table cells.
- Apply formatting presets — apply heading styles (Heading 1–9) and other paragraph styles such as Title, Subtitle, Quote, and more. You can also create custom text styles.
- Change paragraph indents — increase or decrease the paragraph indent using the dedicated icons at the bottom toolbar or the text settings panel.
- Set paragraph line spacing — adjust line height within a paragraph and set the amount of space before, after, and between paragraphs. Additional pagination options include Page Break Before, Orphan Control, Keep Lines Together, and Keep With Next.
- Create lists — add bulleted or numbered lists using the bottom toolbar or the text settings panel. Customize the marker type, numbering style, and indentation.
- Select background color for a paragraph — apply a solid color background to a paragraph using the theme, standard, or custom color palettes.
Working on objects
To insert new objects, tap the
icon at the top toolbar to open the new object insertion panel.
To edit the existing objects, tap the
icon at the top toolbar.
The following object types are supported:
- Insert tables — add a table by selecting a template from the Table tab. Adjust the table style, fill color, borders, and text wrapping. Add or remove rows and columns, merge and split cells.
- Insert images — insert images from your device library, camera, or a URL. Adjust wrapping, replace the image, or change the shape frame and border style.
- Insert charts — insert a chart and enter data in the built-in spreadsheet. Customize the chart type, style, axes, layout, and data labels.
- Insert autoshapes — choose from a wide range of shapes and customize their fill, border, shadow, and opacity. Add text inside a shape.
- Draw freehand — annotate the document with a pencil, marker, or highlighter marker. Select the stroke color from the theme, standard, or custom color palettes.

Page formatting
The following page formatting options are available via the
Tools icon at the top toolbar:
- Set page parameters — adjust page orientation (portrait or landscape), page size (A4, US Letter, and more), margins (Normal, Narrow, Wide, and custom), multi-column layout, line numbers, and automatic hyphenation.
- Insert page numbers — add page numbers at predefined positions (top left, top center, top right, bottom left, bottom center, bottom right, or at the current cursor position). Adjust position, first page behavior, odd/even pages, and numbering style.
- Insert section breaks — divide the document into sections to apply different formatting to different parts. Available break types: Next Page, Continuous Page, Even Page, Odd Page.
- Insert footnotes and endnotes — add reference notes at the bottom of the page (footnotes) or at the end of the document (endnotes). Customize numbering format, start value, and numbering type.
Collaboration
To collaborate on a PDF, tap the
Collaboration icon at the top toolbar. The following tools are available:
- Comments — add, reply to, edit, delete, and resolve comments. Tap the manage icon next to a comment to access all available actions.
- Document Review — enable track changes to record all edits. Choose a tracking mode (On/Off for me or for everyone), select a display mode (Markup, Final, Original), and accept or reject individual or all changes.
Tools and settings
The following tools are accessible via the
Tools icon at the top toolbar:
- Find and Replace — search for specific text in the document and optionally replace individual occurrences or all of them at once. Search options include case sensitivity, whole words, and highlight results.
- Spell-checking — enable the spell-checker to underline incorrectly spelled words in red. Configure it via Application Settings.
- Protect documents with a password — encrypt the file to restrict unauthorized access, or protect the document to limit editing rights to read-only, form filling, tracked changes, or comments.
- Save, export, and print — save the document, save a copy in a different format (DOCX, PDF, ODT, and more), export via the iOS share sheet, or print using AirPrint with full control over paper size, copies, page range, and layout.
- View document information — view the document title, last edited date, last modified date and author, and statistics including page count, word count, and symbol count.
Filling out forms
You can open and fill out PDF fillable forms directly in the app. Navigate between fields using the arrow buttons at the top toolbar, fill in text fields, combo boxes, dropdown lists, check boxes, radio buttons, and image fields. Once complete, export the filled form as a DOCX or PDF file, or print it directly. To learn more, please refer to the Filling out a form article.
