Doc2md: Converting text to Markdown and HTML

If you need to convert your text to Markdown or HTML in ONLYOFFICE Document Editor, the Doc2md plugin makes the process quick and seamless.

Starting with ONLYOFFICE Docs 8.2, no plugins come with the editors by default. The plugins shall be installed via Plugin Manager.

  1. Install the Doc2md plugin using the Plugin Manager.
  2. Go to the Plugins tab and choose the Doc2md plugin.
  3. On the right panel, choose whether you want to convert your text to Markdown or HTML.
  4. Set the advanced settings, if necessary:
    • Demote headings (H1 -> H2, etc.) - lowers the level of all headings in the document by one step to maintain a structured hierarchy.
    • HTML headings/IDs - assigns unique IDs to headings, making it easier to reference them.
    • Create base64 images - converts images into base64-encoded strings, embedding them directly into the document instead of linking to external files.
    • Render HTML tags - parses and includes raw HTML tags in the output, preserving custom formatting and embedded elements.
