Markdown Converter: converting DOCX, HTML and TXT files directly in DocSpace

ONLYOFFICE DocSpace provides you with a convert-to-markdown plugin that can convert DOCX, HTML, and TXT files to Markdown format directly in DocSpace.

Configuring convert-to-markdown

In ONLYOFFICE DocSpace, system plugins can be enabled by the owner and administrators. Once enabled, the plugins are available to all users.

Go to the DocSpace Settings -> Integration -> Plugins.
Click the toggle next to the convert-to-markdown plugin to activate it.

To start working with the plugin, it is not needed to change the default settings. To view the plugin metadata, click on the gear symbol next to the convert-to-markdown plugin.

Converting files to Markdown

The plugin is available via the context menu of DOCX, HTML, and TXT files in the Documents section or in the selected room.
Open the context menu of the necessary file, navigate to More options, and select Convert to Markdown.
The converted .md file is created in the same folder as the original one.

All conversions are performed directly in your browser, no external services are involved. The plugin converts one file at a time; to convert several files, repeat the process for each of them. Large documents may take longer to process.

To convert files, you must have the permission to create files in the corresponding folder or room.
