Insert a chart

To insert a chart into your spreadsheet:

Select the cell range that contains the data you want to use for the chart.
Tap the icon at the top toolbar to open the new object insertion panel.
Open the Chart tab and select the necessary chart type. The following chart types are available: Recommended, Column, Line, Pie, Bar, Area, Stock, XY (Scatter), Radar, and Combo. Tap the arrow next to any category to see all available variations.

The chart will be added to the worksheet. You can now change its properties and position, or edit the chart title directly. A bottom toolbar will also appear, offering quick access to chart options.

Adjust chart settings

Select the chart by tapping it.
Open the Chart Settings panel by:
- tapping the icon at the top toolbar, or
- tapping the Chart option in the pop-up menu.
Tap the arrow next to the necessary menu item: Style, Layout, Vertical Axis, Horizontal Axis, or Arrange.
The Style section contains the following options:
- Type — to change the current chart type. Swipe right or left to browse all available types and tap the one you want to apply.
- Chart Style — to change the current chart style. Swipe right or left to browse the predefined style palettes and tap the one you want to apply.
- Fill — to fill the chart background with a solid color, gradient, image, or pattern.
  - Color — choose one of the available Theme or Standard colors, or set your own Custom color. If you don't want any fill, choose No filling.
  - Gradient — choose two colors for a smooth transition, adjust the angle with the slider, and pick a style (Linear or Radial).
  - Image — choose an image from your library, take a new photo, or insert one from Files.
  - Pattern — pick a pattern and set its foreground and background colors.
- Line — to adjust the chart border:
  - Type — pick a border style or choose No to remove it.
  - Color — choose a border color from Theme, Standard, or Custom.
  - Thickness — use the slider to adjust the border width.
- Opacity — use the slider to adjust the chart's transparency level from 0% to 100%.
The Layout section allows you to change the layout of chart elements.
- Specify the Chart Title position relative to your chart by selecting the necessary option:
  - None — to not display a chart title.
  - Overlay — to overlay and center the title on the plot area.
  - No Overlay — to display the title above the plot area.
- Specify the Legend position relative to your chart by selecting the necessary option:
  - None — to not display a legend.
  - Left, Top, Right, or Bottom — to align the legend on the corresponding side of the plot area.
  - Left Overlay or Right Overlay — to overlay and center the legend to the left or right on the plot area.
- The Axis Title section allows you to specify Horizontal and Vertical axis title parameters:
  - For the Horizontal axis title:
    - None — to not display a horizontal axis title.
    - No Overlay — to display the title below the horizontal axis.
  - For the Vertical axis title orientation:
    - None — to not display a vertical axis title.
    - Rotated — to display the title from bottom to top to the left of the vertical axis.
    - Horizontal — to display the title horizontally to the left of the vertical axis.
- The Gridlines section allows you to specify which Horizontal and Vertical gridlines to display by selecting Major, Minor, or Major and Minor. Choose None to hide the gridlines.
  The Axis Title and Gridlines options will not affect Pie charts since charts of this type have no axes and gridlines.
- Specify the Data Labels position relative to the data points by selecting the necessary option: None, Center, Inner Bottom, Inner Top, or Outer Top. Select the data to include in your labels by turning on the corresponding switchers: Series Name, Category Name, Value.
The Vertical Axis and Horizontal Axis options will not affect Pie charts since charts of this type have no axes.

The Vertical Axis section allows you to change the parameters of the vertical axis, also referred to as the value axis or y-axis, which displays numeric values. Note that the vertical axis will be the category axis (displaying text labels) for Bar charts. For XY (Scatter) charts, both axes are value axes.
- The Axis Options section allows you to set the following parameters:
  - Minimum Value — specifies the lowest value displayed at the vertical axis start. The Auto option is selected by default. Tap Auto to specify a different value.
  - Maximum Value — specifies the highest value displayed at the vertical axis end. The Auto option is selected by default. Tap Auto to specify a different value.
  - Axis Crosses — specifies a point on the vertical axis where the horizontal axis should cross it. Auto calculates the intersection automatically. You can also select Value to enter a custom Crosses Value, or set the intersection at the Minimum Value or Maximum Value on the vertical axis.
  - Display Units — determines how numeric values are represented along the vertical axis. Available options include Hundreds, Thousands, 10 000, 100 000, Millions, 10 000 000, 100 000 000, Billions, and Trillions. Choose None to return to the default units.
  - Values in reverse order — displays values in the opposite direction. When off, the lowest value appears at the bottom and the highest at the top. When on, values are ordered from top to bottom.
- The Tick Options section allows you to adjust the appearance of tick marks on the vertical scale. Major tick marks are the larger scale divisions that can have labels displaying numeric values. Minor tick marks are the scale subdivisions placed between the major tick marks and have no labels. The Major Type and Minor Type options include:
  - None — to not display tick marks.
  - Cross — to display tick marks on both sides of the axis.
  - In — to display tick marks inside the axis.
  - Out — to display tick marks outside the axis.
- The Label Options section allows you to adjust the appearance of tick mark labels. To specify a Label Position relative to the vertical axis, select the necessary option:
  - None — to not display tick mark labels.
  - Low — to display tick mark labels to the left of the plot area.
  - High — to display tick mark labels to the right of the plot area.
  - Next to axis — to display tick mark labels next to the axis.
The Horizontal Axis section allows you to change the parameters of the horizontal axis, also referred to as the category axis or x-axis, which displays text labels. Note that the horizontal axis will be the value axis (displaying numeric values) for Bar charts. For XY (Scatter) charts, both axes are value axes.
- The Axis Options section allows you to set the following parameters:
  - Axis Crosses — specifies a point on the horizontal axis where the vertical axis should cross it. Auto calculates the intersection automatically. You can also select Value to enter a custom Crosses Value, or set the intersection at the Minimum Value or Maximum Value (corresponding to the first and last category) on the horizontal axis.
  - Axis Position — specifies where the axis text labels should be placed: On Tick Marks or Between Tick Marks.
  - Values in reverse order — displays categories in the opposite direction. When off, categories are displayed from left to right. When on, categories are ordered from right to left.
- The Tick Options section allows you to adjust the appearance of tick marks on the horizontal scale. The Major Type and Minor Type options work the same as on the vertical axis: None, Cross, In, or Out.
- The Label Options section allows you to adjust the appearance of labels that display categories. To specify a Label Position relative to the horizontal axis, select the necessary option:
  - None — to not display category labels.
  - Low — to display category labels at the bottom of the plot area.
  - High — to display category labels at the top of the plot area.
  - Next to axis — to display category labels next to the axis.
The Arrange section allows you to set the selected chart position relative to other objects when several objects overlap. The available options are Bring to Foreground, Send to Background, Bring Forward, and Send Backward. To learn more, refer to the Manipulate objects article.

Remove the chart

Select the chart by tapping it and proceed in one of the following ways:

tap the Delete option in the pop-up menu, or
open the Chart Settings panel, swipe up, and tap the Delete Chart button, or
tap the trash can icon on the bottom toolbar.
