Inserting footnotes and endnotes

Insert a footnote or an endnote

You can add footnotes and endnotes to provide explanations or comments for certain sentences or terms used in your text, or make references to the sources.

  1. Position the insertion point at the end of the text passage you want to add a footnote or endnote to.
  2. Tap the Insert object icon at the top toolbar to open the new object insertion panel.
  3. Switch to the Other tab.
  4. Select the required option: Footnote Footnote or Endnote Endnote.

The note mark (i.e. the superscript character that indicates a footnote or endnote) appears in the document text, and the insertion point moves to the bottom of the page (for footnotes) or the end of the document (for endnotes).

  5. Type in the note text.

Repeat the above mentioned operations to add subsequent notes for other text passages in the document. The notes are numbered automatically.

Adjust the notes settings

  1. Open the settings panel by tapping the More actions button at the top right corner.
  2. Tap the Notes settings Notes Settings menu item.

Remove a note

To remove a single footnote or endnote, position the insertion point directly before the note mark in the document text and tap Delete. The remaining notes will be renumbered automatically.

To remove all footnotes or endnotes, use the Remove all footnotes or Remove all endnotes option in the Notes Settings panel as described above.
