Inserting tables

Insert a table

  1. Place the cursor where you want the table to be put.
  2. Tap the Insert object icon at the top toolbar to open the new object insertion panel.
  3. Switch to the Table icon Table tab and select one of the available table templates. Each template combines certain formatting parameters, such as a background color, border style, row/column banding, etc.
  4. In the Table size window that opens, set the necessary Columns and Rows number (the 3 by 3 cell table is selected by default, you can specify up to 10 rows/columns).
  5. Tap Ok.

The table will be added. The insertion point is placed in the upper left cell so that you can start entering data. Tap within a different cell to place the insertion point in it.

Add or delete rows or columns

  1. Tap a cell within the necessary row/column.
  2. Long press to open the pop-up menu and click on the Settings icon icon.
  3. Select the desired option:
    • Add column
    • Add row
    • Delete column
    • Delete row
  4. Or,

  1. Open the text/object settings panel by tapping the Edit object icon at the top toolbar.
  2. Switch to the Table tab.
  3. Use the corresponding icons:
    • Add column left - to insert a column at the left side from the column where the cursor is placed.
    • Add column right - to insert a column at the right side from the column where the cursor is placed.
    • Add row above - to insert a row above the row where the cursor is placed.
    • Add row below - to insert a row below the row where the cursor is placed.
    • Remove column - to remove the column where the cursor is placed.
    • Remove row - to remove the row where the cursor is placed.

The corresponding options are also located on the bottom toolbar.

Add cell margins

  1. Tap anywhere inside the table.
  2. Open the text/object settings panel by:
    • Tapping the Edit object icon at the top or bottom toolbar, or
    • Tapping the Edit option in the pop-up menu.
  3. Switch to the Table tab.
  4. Tap the Table Options button,
    • Resize to Fit Contents - to automatically adjust the table size based on the content in the cells. This option is turned on by default.
    • Cell margins - use the slider to adjust the spacing between cell content and cell borders.

Customize the appearance

To customize the table style:

  1. Tap anywhere inside the table.
  2. Open the text/object settings panel by:
    • Tapping the Edit object icon at the top or bottom toolbar, or
    • Tapping the Edit option in the pop-up menu.
  3. Switch to the Table tab, and tap the Style button.

The Style section contains the following three tabs:

  1. Style: Tap any template to apply it to your table. The templates include different combinations of borders, shading, and formatting for rows and columns. To configure additional style settings, tap the Style Options button:
    • Header row - to apply special formatting to the first row of the table.
    • Total row - to apply special formatting to the last row of the table.
    • Banded row - to apply alternating row colors.
    • First column - to apply special formatting to the first column of the table.
    • Last column - to apply special formatting to the last column of the table.
    • Banded column - to apply alternating column colors.
    • Repeat as Header row - to repeat the header row on each page when the table spans multiple pages.
  2. Fill - to change the chart background fill by selecting a solid color. Swipe up to see all the palettes and tap the necessary color on the Theme colors or Standard colors palette or create your own Custom color. If you don't want to use any fill, tap the Without filling Without filling option.
  3. Border - to change the current border style:
    • Size - set the border size by dragging the slider.
    • Color - select the border color on the palette.
    • Border type - select one of the available border types.

Split and merge cells

To merge/split selected cells:

  1. Select the cells you want to merge/split.
  2. Long press to open the pop-up menu.
  3. Tap the Merge button. The selected cells will be merge into one. Text and all objects contained in the merged cells will be into one cell and distributed into paragraphs in order.
  4. Tap the Split button and set the number of Columns and Rows the selected cell should be split into.
  5. Tap the OK button.

Delete table

  1. Select the table by tapping on one of its edges and dragging the Select top and Select bottom handles so they cover the entire table.
  2. Tap Delete button in the pop-up menu or use the Delete table icon shortcut icon on the bottom toolbar.
