Creating and rewriting presentation text with AI

The ONLYOFFICE Presentation Editor allows you to use AI assistants to generate presentation content from topic descriptions and rewrite existing slide text. Whether you're starting from scratch or refining your slides, AI can help you create, improve, and polish your presentation text quickly and efficiently.

By default, AI is not connected to editors for security reasons. To use AI features, you need to install and configure the AI plugin first. Refer to the AI assistants: setup and configuration guide for detailed instructions.

Accessing AI features

For new content: Go to the AI tab on the top toolbar and select Chatbot, or press Ctrl+/ (or ⌘+/ on macOS).
For rewriting: Select the text you want to modify within a text placeholder, text box, or autoshape, then right-click and choose AI → Chatbot from the context menu, or use the keyboard shortcut.

Generating presentations from descriptions

To create a presentation using AI:

Open a new or existing presentation.
Open the AI prompt and describe the presentation you want to create. Include:
- The topic or subject
- The intended audience
- General tone and style
- The number of slides (optional)
- Key points to cover (optional)
Review the AI-generated content, then use it to build your slides.

Working with generated content

Review the structure — check that the slide order and flow make sense.
Add slides — go to the Home or Insert tab and click Add Slide to create slides with appropriate layouts.
Customize — edit the AI-generated text to add your specific details and examples.
Apply design — use the Design tab to apply a theme and color scheme.
Add visuals — enhance slides with images, charts and diagrams.

Rewriting slide text

Select the text and open the AI prompt, then ask AI to:

Limitations and considerations

AI-generated content is a starting point — always customize with your specific data and verify facts.
Technical terminology may be simplified incorrectly; verify specialized content.
AI cannot access real-time data; statistics or current events need to be verified.
Images, charts, and formatting must be added manually.
Use Undo (Ctrl+Z) if rewritten text doesn't preserve your intended meaning.
